What I’m Loving Right Now – The Perfect Summer Shoes

I – like any red-blooded American girl – love shoes; boots, stilettos, peep-toes and everything in between, shoes can make or break an outfit, and the right pair can make you feel like a million bucks.  In San Diego, we’re lucky enough to be able to rock strappy heels and sandals almost year-round, but I get super excited when summer rolls around because I know I’m in for a treat.

Summer is one of my favorite seasons for shoes because designers seem to let loose and really let their imaginations and creativity run wild. This season, gladiator sandals have kicked it up a notch, and are appearing in every hue of sparkly, metallics and bright colors you can think of.  With small embellished details and strategically-placed hardware, there’s a reason why these sassy sandals are being worn by A-list celebs and beach bunnies alike.

Platforms are another must-have shoe for summer, donned by fashionistas looking for a little lift. Although this trend has been around for the last few seasons, it’s no wonder that it’s still going strong – who doesn’t like to look a little taller? This summer, platforms have been given a slightly more modern and edgy feel, and are appearing in rich hues like greens and purples, as well as interesting new styles that help highlight and elongate the legs.

Perhaps my favorite “it” summer shoe is the strappy nude heel. I love this look because it combines a clean, classic color with the ability to be a little bit adventurous and try a different texture or style you might otherwise not.  These shoes can be paired with almost anything, but can still be bold enough to make a statement with even the simplest of looks.
